Hi there. 👋 My name is Ian.
I’ve been lucky enough to live my life surrounded by wonder: First on California’s central coast where I grew up, and for the last 20 years in Colorado, where I am always astounded by what’s outside our front door. I started Flawless Photo Co because I want to document people living their lives in a place like this. I’m chasing the meaningful moments: the sweet and the bitter, the triumph and the heartbreak, the light and the shadow…and I’d love for you to join me in the hunt.
My Approach
I work in a style that is simultaneously spontaneous and calculated. I spend a lot of time evaluating the moment, the scene, and the timing to capture unique images, and I work closely with my subjects to collaborate on a shared vision. I often utilize unconventional tools to create compelling imagery, such as off-camera flash, vintage lenses (with eccentric character), and non-traditional angles and poses. Some would say there are rules to this gig, which I suppose there are…and I’m here to break them!
No matter the location, the conditions, or the people, I’ll do the heavy lifting so you can focus on living the moments you hired me to capture.
Where I Work
I’m based in Colorado Springs and photograph individuals, couples, and families across Colorado. I am keenly aware of the light at different times of year, the beautiful locations you might walk right past, and how to make even familiar venues feel like somewhere new. I photograph throughout Colorado during all four seasons: up and down the I-25 corridor, into the high country, in the city, and in the studio.
But I also believe that creating compelling imagery is less about the location and more about knowing your subject and how to present them at their best in the environment they’re in. Wherever I’m working, I come prepared with local knowledge, an eye for the marvels hiding in plain sight, and a genuine love for the surroundings.
